Sullivan Rotary Club
The Sullivan Rotary Club organizes an annual “Corn Festival”, which is held in Sullivan’s Downtown Square. The festival features carnival rides and delicious fair food. There are also multiple vendors. It promotes a family-friendly environment with free nightly entertainment on Central Plaza and a parade. The Rotary Club of Sullivan organizes the event. For more information, visit the Sullivan Rotary Club’s website. Afterwards, check out a few photos from last year’s Corn Festival.
To register for the parade, please download the registration form. The festival will be held on Saturday, September 17, 2022. The Corn Festival is not a profit for the Sullivan Rotary Club, but it does help to improve the local economy. Amanda Wheeler, a Sullivan Rotarian says the event has contributed to the town’s economic growth in more ways than one. She hopes the event will grow to be a community event. She is looking into introducing a cover fee for live music during the parade.
Olathe Sweet Corn Festival
The sweet corn at the Olathe Sweet Corn Festival has been a staple of the town for many years. But unlike its namesake, this corn has a long and varied travel history. The Montrose Delta agricultural area, where Olathe resides, was in terrible condition during the 1970s. Most of the major crops in the town were no longer in high demand. Some residents were worried about their future and the town was in decline. The town was making a comeback this year thanks to Olathe Sweet corn harvesting.
The Olathe Sweet Corn Festival offers a chance to taste local sweet corn as well as participate in activities and vendors. The festival takes place every August on the first weekend. This family-friendly event features live music, carnival rides, and an annual town parade. You should also visit the local food & beverage vendors while you are there. There are plenty of ways to celebrate the corn and the community during the Olathe Sweet Corn Festival.
La Habra Lions Club
This weekend, the La Habra Lions Club will hold their 67th annual Corn Festival. The three-day festival will run from today through Sunday. The community is invited to enjoy carnival rides, food booths, contests, and pie-making. The event will conclude with a raffle drawing to win a 1965 Ford Mustang. This event is a highlight in La Habra’s history.
The Corn Festival was originally a dance and cookout and now is one of the city’s largest fund-raising events. La Habra Kiwanis Club (La Habra High School footballBoosters), Job’s Daughters, the Community Services Department, and others participate in the event. Residents can win prizes, including all-buttered ears of corn. It’s a great opportunity to give back and support local causes.
